This bobcat is exploring and has just spotted me and my camera. Note there is a second bobcat in the back of hte image. I frequently find bobcats in and around large rock outcrops.
The bobcat has distinctive black bars on its forelegs and a black-tipped, bobbed tail, giving it its name. It is an adaptable predator inhabiting wooded areas, as well as semidesert, urban edge, forest edge, and swampland environments. Populations are vulnerable to attacks by coyotes and domestic animals. Though the bobcat prefers rabbits, it hunts insects, chickens, geese and birds, and rodents. Prey selection depends on location and habitat, season, and abundance.
